Uptown Saint John has a full variety of shops to fit your every wish and need. These two stores are locally owned and feature quality clothing and furniture.

BustinsBUSTIN’S opened on May 5, 1905 under the name Bustins and Withers. They started at the location where they are still situated - 99 Germain Street. Although the original building was destroyed in the Great Fire in 1877 and was rebuilt. Now they have 3 floors when they began they had 1/2 the first floor, warehouse on the second floor and a workshop on the top floor. They delivered their merchandise by horse and carriage. Their promise is excellent quality and excellent service. Charles L. Bustin was the founder of the store. Tom and Bob Bustin are now the fourth generation of Bustins running the store. They sell furniture, rugs, bedding and accessories.

Another First
Saint John artist Fred Ross has many works of art in the collection of the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa. In 1994, he became the first New Brunswick artist to be exhibited at the art gallery of the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Fred Ross received his early art training in Saint John and studied in the United States, Mexico and Europe. He continues to paint in Saint John.
