L’IL SHOP OF SCIENCE is an independently owned educational toy store offering great gifts for children of all ages. For many years owners, Blake and Judy Brodersen have delighted parents and children with such items as Sea Monkeys, Slime Science kits, brain teasers, kites, games, books that are not readily available elsewhere and much more. Located in a brick heritage building at 85 Princess Street HAYWARD & WARWICK was established in 1855. Today David and Mark Hayward carry on their family tradition. Hayward and Warwick sells items in a broad range from the inexpensive to the more expensive in fine china. They also have a wide range of collectibles which come from all over the world, including Royal Doulton dinnerware, as well as figurines; Balleek Parian china and Waterford crystal from Ireland; Emile Henri bakeware from France and Mikasa crystal. For a bit of fun, they have mix and match patterns that vary every few years. You can pick a bunch of blue, yellow or green dinner plates, very reasonably priced and mix and match. Sherry Casey, retail manager, says, “We try to cover just about everything. We have nautical brassware for the sailor, wildflower angels and other gifts for children, English bone china cups and saucers, all reasonably prices. Our sale table changes weekly and has a wide variety of items.”

Another First
Saint John artist Fred Ross has many works of art in the collection of the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa. In 1994, he became the first New Brunswick artist to be exhibited at the art gallery of the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. Fred Ross received his early art training in Saint John and studied in the United States, Mexico and Europe. He continues to paint in Saint John.
