Parking Commission of Saint John

The Parking Commission of Saint John is pleased to welcome all visitors to this beautiful, old City. They know that parking in an unknown city can be very disconcerting to the travelling public so to make it easier, they have incorporated many new ideas and procedures to assist visitors with parking.

Recently, they have changed to a new technology, pay and display parking machines, a newer technology. They are easy to use and the instructions are on every machine. An important point for visitors is they take credit cards as well as cash. Parking meters are only in effect in Saint John from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. so on Saturday and Sunday on-street parking meters are free.

The parking lots for the Saint John Parking commission are marked on a map that the City gives out to tourists and is also available in different tourism brochures and in See Saint John & Beyond. The off-street parking lots have a longer time period for parking and there is no worry about coming back to the parking meter before the time has expired. There are ten off street parking lots spread throughout the City, some of them are metered areas, but three lots: Wellington Row, Water Street and Sydney Street all have parking attendants there on a regular basis. The parking lots for the Saint John Parking Commission are free to park in after hours.

Richard Smith, General Manager, Saint John Parking Commission, says, “If you have any difficulty with parking, call our office at 658-2897 and we will do our best to help you. We want to make your visit to Saint John a pleasant memory and we want you to come back soon.”
