The following three restaurants offer delicious food in a welcoming atmosphere and with a local flavour. Java Moose Coffee Roasters, Sebastian and Billy's Seafood Company are all located in the uptown area. Each of them has a unique setting in a heritage building and a menu that offers something for everyone.

JAVA MOOSE, Since its beginnings a decade ago, in a tiny mall booth, Java Moose has expanded in to the City Market and has recently opened a unique café at 84 Prince William Street. This bright and friendly setting offers an impressive range of teas and coffee along with sandwiches and biscotti. It is an open kitchen concept and delightfully delicious desserts are on display.

For morning meetings, be sure to try The Java Moose Red-Eye, a blend of foghorn dark roast reinforced with a shot of espresso. Their locations also include a Java Moose general store with hand-glazed pottery, mugs, jams, jellies, chocolate, baking mixtures, sweets and hand crafted sandwiches. Their hand crafted coffee is roasted in Saint John.

BILLY'S SEAFOOD COMPANY
has earned a reputation for providing excellent service and serving exceptional food. His unique concept of a combination seafood restaurant and retail fish market offers the freshest seafood available.

"Everything we prepare at Billy's comes directly from our fish market, which means that we have total control over the quality of the food on the plate," says owner Bill Grant.
Along with lunch and nightly specials, they also pack anything on ice so it can be transported safely and easily. Billy's restaurant has been named in Where to Eat in Canada, and also featured in such publications as Frommers Travel Guides and Maritime Flavours Guidebook & Cookbook.

SEBASTIAN, "Here at Sebastian, along with our excellent menu, ambiance and friendly staff, we are proud to have been voted the best place in Saint John to enjoy cocktails", says Mike Lavigne, General Manager. "We are also well known for our 50 unique martinis".
Situated in a historic brick building, the owners have used the spacious area to its best advantage. Tables are well spaced in the high ceilinged area for the comfort of the diners. The dinner menu features starters, appetizers, mains and desserts. Chef Marcus Webster has worked as a chef around the world and has brought his experience and expertise to Sebastian. They have a late menu on Fridays and Saturdays which features finger foods.

On June 14, 1801, Benedict Arnold died in London (England). He was considered a traitor for joining the British after a heroic career as a revolutionary leader. For six years after the American Revolution, he and his family lived and worked in Saint John, N.B.
