Saint John Comedy Festival

On Thursday, April 20 at 8 p.m. the fourth Saint John Comedy Festival kicks off at the Imperial Theatre. Uptown Saint John Inc. produces this yearly event. Their General Manager, Peter Asimakos, says, "It generally kicks off the event season for the year and after a long winter people are ready for a laugh."

The gala show at the Imperial Theatre begins at 8 p.m. and features multiple Gemini award winner, Patrick McKenna as host for the evening performance. David Acer, Wayne Flemming, Kenny Robinson, Andrew Grose, Mark Crocker, Doug Funk and Shane Ogden will perform at the event. Musical Director is Norman Learo.

The Water Street Dinner Theatre is the site for Friday April 21 and Saturday April 22. Both nights there will be dinner and a show at 6 p.m. and at 8 p.m. Mark Crocker, one of North Americas best ventriloquists will be one of the featured artists. Mark presents the art of ventriloquism with amazing skill, speed and clarity. David Acer, who will also perform at the Water Street Dinner Theatre is a stand-up comedian and a well known and respected magician. He has also appeared on television and in short films. David is an editor at Genii Magazine, a magician periodical.

Andrew Grose and Wayne Flemming will be the featured performers at the Saturday night show at the Water Street Theatre. Andrew Grose is a Canadian comedy veteran. He has performed in comedy clubs, festivals and on national television in Canada. Wayne Flemming has been entertaining crowds from coast to coast and abroad for 25 years. He has countless TV appearances to his credit, and has been featured in many films. Recently his film career has seen Wayne appear in " Lemony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events" with Meryl Streep & his long-time buddy Jim Carrey in "Fun with Dick and Jane".

Shane Ogden is from Grand Bay, New Brunswick. He returns home after years of touring. Shane specializes in college shows and has performed at fundraisers, nightclubs, cafeterias and even in barns. He has appeared frequently at every major city and most small cities in Canada. He invites people to ‘come see something you haven't seen before, and won't ever see again'.

The Late Nite Nasty Show will be at the Imperial Theatre at 11 p.m. on April 22. The Trailer Park Boys will be joined by Kenny Robinson, Mark Walker and Shannon Laverty. This will be the first time in the Imperial Theatre's history that a late night show has been presented. Peter Smith, General Manager of the theatre says, "We have been looking to present a late night show for a long time. We just hadn't found the right show to introduce this concept to Saint John. We are excited to see the Late Nite Nasty Show come to our building."

Several venues around town will host different comedians on both Friday, April 21 and Saturday April 22.

Gala Show: $30.00 (24.34 plus HST plus CIF charge) and $36.00 ($29.57 plus HST CIF charge). Available at the Imperial Theatre Box Office (674-4100)

Club Shows
Individual Club Show Tickets are $10.00 and are available at all participating venues. An all access Club Show Pass grants access to all 12 club shows on Friday and Saturday. 25 bucks (plus $1.75 service charge). Limited number of passes available at the Imperial Theatre Box Office only.

The Club Show Pass grants access, it does not guarantee a seat. Drink and food purchases not included.
